Summer !

     Next up from Friends of Pike Lake: Discovery Day!
   Discovery Day: June 2 . . . come on out and explore the free offerings!
    In addition to the usual activities . . . nature T-shirt printing, archery lessons, Smokey Bear, face painting, fishing and more . . . celebrate the ribbon cutting for our new amphitheater!  The HUHS band performs for the celebration.  Activities are available 9:00 am to noon.  We hope to see you there.  This is part of the DNR's Free Weekend, so no parking stickers are required.            Here are the planned activities:
 9:00 am:  Guided Bird Hike – Please bring your own binoculars.
10:00 am: Northern Cross Astronomers – Jeff Setzer will present information about astronomy at the amphitheater.  Take a look through NCA’s solar scopes.
12:00 noon:  Amphitheater Grand Opening featuring the HUH band and guest speakers, followed by a hot dog roast over the campfire.

All activities below will be available throughout the event, starting at 9:00 am.
Kayaking Demonstration
Archery with the Game Warden – South Picnic area
Smokey Bear: Meet and greet Smokey Bear and learn about fire safety.
Fish with the Sportsman’s Club and Ranger Justin on the fishing pier.

The following activities will take place in or near the north shelter.
Touchable Wildlife Mounts and Furs
Reptile Randy: Learn about reptiles and amphibians.
 Meet Lisa and her Turkey Vulture.
