29th Annual Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe
Saturday, February 10, 6:00-9:00 pm
The
Friends of Pike Lake will line trails with over 300 glowing luminaria to welcome
and guide hikers, skiers and snowshoers at the 29th annual Pike Lake
Ski/Hike/Snowshoe. Festivities run from
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Saturday, February 10th.
State Forest rangers and volunteers will be on hand for assistance and
information. Flat-grooming of the two
connected 3/4-mile trails will provide a good surface for all three
activities. This popular event will take
place with or without snow.
Members of
the Northern Cross Science Foundation will have their telescopes set up to help
visitors view solar system and galactic objects.
This is a great winter activity for
people of all ages with two linked, lighted trails providing a variety of
terrain. A huge bonfire near the north
shelter will provide warmth and good cheer.
The improved, warming shelter just
north of the beach parking lot will feature the usual hot drinks and snacks and
representatives of the Ice Age Trail Foundation.
The
lighted trail starts near the beach at the main parking lot, located on
Kettle-Moraine Drive off of Highway 60 between Hartford and Slinger. This is a free event, though a 2018 State
Park sticker (available at the entrance) is required for parking.
