Fall Season Kickoff: Free Concert and Community Campfire

Saturday, September 10th 7:00-9:00 pm

Great family music, refreshments and a roaring bonfire in the beautiful Pike Lake Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest provide a cheerful start to the fall outdoor season.  This is the 18th annual edition of one of our favorite events.
This year's featured entertainer is Ken Lonnquist, a versatile singer some area residents may remember from his April, 2015 appearance in the Schauer Center's "Tikes in Pikes" concert.  He has been lauded by the Isthmus publication in Madison as  "Free-spirited and spontaneous, imbued with boundless energy, driven by a relentless creative impulse."  He has been recognized for his excellence by Audubon, Parents Choice, American Library Association, Booklist, Children's Music Web, Parents Guide To Children's Media and others.  Children's Theater of Madison has produced 15 full-length musicals he composed.
He is active throughout the state, performing in Madison, Marathon City, Stevens Point, Wausau, Stratford, Green Lake and many other Wisconsin locations in July alone.  The Friends of Pike Lake are fortunate to have booked him for this event and look forward to welcoming a big audience for him on September 10th.  To find out more about Ken, visit his website at his website.
This is a free event, though a State Parks and Forests parking sticker is required in the parking lot.  Stickers are available at all DNR offices and on site the night of the concert.
The atmosphere at the event is a big part of the pleasure.
We hope to see you there!
